Is the Government interested in mind control? I once had a very paranoid Vietnam Veteran patient who was convinced that the Government had put a chip in his lungs and were reading his thoughts. I told him “Dude, they can’t read your thoughts through your lungs, wrong body part. All you can hear in the lungs is air. They’d have to get the chip into your brain in order to read your mind.” With that nod to legitimate paranoia, please consider the following thoughts about government-scale mind control.

The Government, as a whole, is not interested in your life, your liberty, or your pursuit of happiness. They are mainly concerned about your money, your obedience, and your predictability. Our elected officials are no longer in the business of representing We the People, at least not since the end of the 19th Century, when Big Oil, Big Coal and Big Steel took off. That is when Big Business began purchasing our country, one politician at a time. Why do you think we got into WWI? It surely was no desire to "save" Europe from war; we are not so altruistic. Lots of oil, coal, and steel get used up in war, and that is very good for business. People get used up as well. Our military developed a factory-like method for replacing large numbers of soldiers ground up in battle. Similarly, Big Business needed vast numbers of factory workers with the same kind of obedient, unquestioning predictability that the military required in their soldiers. It was out of this insatiable need for factory workers that our public school system was born in the early 1900’s.

“...H.L. Mencken wrote in The American Mercury for April 1924 that the aim of public education is not ‘to fill the young of the species with knowledge and awaken their intelligence.' Nothing could be further from the truth. The aim... is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to put down dissent and originality. That is its aim in the United States….’” Against School, by John Taylor Gatto

The United States had gone into the business of industrializing its society and population in return for power and cold hard cash.

In addition to making politicians and corporations wealthy, a safe, standardized, obedient and unoriginal population is also useful in maintaining political power over the governed. It is no illusion that every generation since the public school system was introduced seems to be less mature, less competent, and less able in almost every way. Modern people have been reduced to virtual ignorance, educated only enough to stay in their societal lanes, predictably obedient to authority and stupid enough to consume more than they need. It is not so much mind control but the Pavlovian training and conditioning of human responses to stimuli. As Pavlov’s dogs drooled at the sound of a bell, so today do modern Americans respond to the triggers built into the very fabric of consciousness.

How effective has this effort to groom the population been? Well, our children are taught that some girls have penises and some boys have vaginas, so we have jettisoned basic biology, just for starters. We also spend more money on healthcare than any other country in the world, yet we are fatter, less healthy and less intelligent than our First World peers. We are mystified as to why. Agribusiness and the food industry make a lot of money selling us food that makes us ill, and the pharmacology and medical professions make money from treating people who are ill; lip service to the contrary aside. It’s a win-win. When you hear of our government waging war on a problem, like poverty, drugs, or radical Islam, rest assured it will cost billions, victory will be perpetually around the corner, and those waging the war will get rich in its pursuit. I guess you could say that the true joy for those in power comes from the journey, not reaching the destination. Just ask our boys in Afghanistan. And Iraq. And Libya. And Syria.

Most people think of mind control from my paranoid patient’s perspective, some drug or technology platform easily derided as fantastical. When it comes to manipulating our state of consciousness, State just wants alert, predictable and productive people in the workforce. The use of stimulants, sugar, and energy drinks are perfectly acceptable while being terribly unhealthy, keeping the worker bees buzzing away. Alcohol is also acceptable as a way of tranquilizing the population, preferably on their off time, to distract them from their slowly deteriorating economic position, the constant stream of lies from the State and the constant influx of people who are openly brought into this country to take their jobs. Big Brother always managed to conjure up enough Victory Gin in 1984, even if he couldn’t make enough razors.

Marijuana may still be classified by the Feds as a dangerous drug with zero health benefits, but the States have discovered its utility in keeping people chilling in their own misery. The DEA may claim it is a gateway drug to heroin, but in reality it is more a gateway to the pantry and even more obesity, for some. In actuality it is the legal drugs, opioids like OxyContin and its ilk that are the real gateway drug to heroin and death by overdose. OxyContin alone has had sales of over 2 billion dollars a year in the US since 2008. The DEA has had its ability to stop the pill mills and over prescribing doctors gutted by pharmaceutical industry pressure in Washington ven as deaths from overdoses have climbed.

Remember that I mentioned winners and losers? The US Federal Government has chosen the losers, outside of market forces. Poor, working-class Americans have been tossed into that infamous basket of deplorables, clutching their guns and their bibles. This group has been hit particularly hard by the opioid epidemic, and I believe this has been deliberate. The plan is quite brilliant, even if by plan I am simply wrong, and are referring to a random series of series of unfortunate events; the synchronicity is astounding.

In the 1930’s, for example, a certain European country decided that it hated part of their population. They started the destruction of this group by undermining them economically and socially. This was also done to the working class in the US when we shipped most manufacturing jobs -and the entire steel industry- overseas. This economically crippled a huge swath of the working class.

The next step in population control is to encourage them to indulge in life threatening vices. The opioid epidemic is a deliberately manufactured crisis designed to make the drug companies money, while politicians shed crocodile tears, wringing their hands filled with blood money as hundreds of thousands of people died. Apparently it wasn’t happening fast enough though; cue the Chinese invention of synthetic opioids like Fentanyl. Most of that drug comes from China by way or our perennially open border with Mexico. Here is the funny twist. The open border letting in the drugs killing the deplorable working class are also bringing in Central American peasants to take the jobs of those our policies are killing off.

The ultimate form of mind control is extinguishing the minds you hate. It worked in the 1930’s, for a time. So yes, Virginia, there is Government mind control, and population control; and there are open air concentration camps of the mind in every poor region of the country mired in economic despair, pilloried by our so-called culture as racist and undeserving of life. There are plenty of people from other countries who, darlings of the moment, dreamers all, will suffer the same indignities once their brief time in the sun is over.

It is high time that we the condemned wake from our slumber, lest it become a permanent dirt nap.
